Evergreen in Otto

Located in the Appalachian Mountains between Clayton GA and Franklin NC, Evergreen in Otto is a renovated shack that now serves as a 3br/2ba vacation getaway with views of the Appalachian trail.

My husband and I were visiting our friends Nick & Krista Skytland at their cabin one weekend when we all got to talking about the halfway-built cabin next door. We share the full story of how this came to be on Instagram, but the TL;DR version is this: "the mountain shack" became ours in the summer of 2021, and we spent about a year renovating before listing on AirBNB. We recently sold our half to Krista’s parents, but this will forever be one of our wackiest (and favorite) projects.

As we sifted through the junk left in the house, we repurposed what we could: beautiful shaker cabinets, slabs of marble, a vintage chalkboard… We brought a wooden desk home with us but couldn’t pry the drawers open, so we gave it away on Facebook Marketplace. You’ll never believe what they found inside!
